Home Appliances That Need Regular Maintenance By Professionals

07 Jan 2020

Your bank account would like it if your home appliances could last forever. Unfortunately, that’s not always possible. However, with regular and preventative maintenance, you can make sure that your home appliances last for as long as intended.

This is especially true when we’re talking about these following home appliances:

1. Water Heaters

Water heaters let us enjoy clean dishes and clothes, as well as the occasional hot shower. They’re generally low maintenance too! However, low-maintenance doesn’t mean you should neglect them, which is something that most people are guilty of doing.

If taken care of properly, water heaters can last and perform for as long as a decade, if not longer. The key to making sure it lasts is to have your water heaters checked by professionals at least once a year.

Regular maintenance ensures water heaters last long and works as efficiently a few years down the road.

2. Air-conditioning Units

Air conditioners can both be maintained by professionals and the homeowner.

Keep your air conditioning units at home clean by washing the filters at least once every month, especially if you use it every day. You should wash it more often if you have pets around the house, or if you live with people who have allergies.

Rinsing the filters are easy. You just have to take it out, soak it and wash it with a damp cloth and soap. If you have a blow dryer, you can try blowing dust out of the vents at least once a week for some additional cleaning.

Of course, preventative maintenance by a professional is necessary to ensure your air conditioner runs smoothly all year round. In addition to aircon cleaning, professional cleaners help check the air conditioning unit for any small issues and will repair them on the spot.

3. Air Ducts

If you have an HVAC system installed in your house, it’s imperative that you have the vents checked periodically by a professional. Preferably, you should hire the same professionals who installed it to do the maintenance work.

Complete and thorough cleaning of the ducts ensures that there are minimal dust build-up and adequate ventilation. This process helps prevent issues including heat loss and clogged systems while significantly improving the indoor air quality for the people living in your house.

When there’s something wrong with an electrical appliance, it works harder than usual and consumes more electricity. Therefore, regular and preventative maintenance by professionals is essential especially for water heaters, air-con units and air ducts.

By maintaining and fixing problems as soon as they appear, you can save money on your electricity bill, and make sure that your appliances work as intended for as long as possible.
